A 3 point hitch snowblower attaches to the rear 3-point hitch of a tractor, and is powered by the tractor's power take-off (PTO) system. A PTO snowblower is also powered by the tractor's PTO system, but it attaches directly to the PTO shaft rather than the 3-point hitch. The main difference between the two is the way they attach to the tractor. A 3-point hitch snowblower uses a system of levers and linkages to attach to the tractor, while a PTO snowblower attaches directly to the PTO shaft. This can affect the maneuverability and stability of the tractor and snowblower when in use, and may affect the types of tractors that can be used with each type of snowblower. 3-point hitch snowblowers tend to be larger and more heavy-duty than PTO snowblowers, and are often used for clearing large areas of snow quickly, such as on a farm or large driveway. PTO snowblowers, on the other hand, are smaller and more versatile, and are often used for clearing smaller areas of snow, such as on a residential driveway or sidewalk. We have both PTO and 3 PT Hitch snowblowers for sale!

However, we do reccommend purchasing your snowblower before your first major storm arrives. Nobody wants to be stuck inside! If you focus on purchasing a snowblower in the early fall, you'll have it just in time for snow.
The answer would depend on the specific snowblower model and the manufacturer's recommendations. However, generally speaking, 3-point hitch snowblowers are typically designed to be used with tractors that have a minimum of 20-25 horsepower, and have a 3-point hitch system with the appropriate category (category 1 or category 2). Additionally, depending on the model, the tractor may need to have a specific PTO (Power Take Off) shaft size or RPM. It is important to check the specifications of the snowblower and the tractor to ensure compatibility before making a purchase. Or, contact our team at WoodMaxx to learn more!
