NOT ALL SNOW BLOWERS ARE CREATED EQUAL
Designed in Buffalo New York (we know snow) the WoodMaxx™ SS
series skid steer mounted snow blower is the perfect combination of size,
weight, and power. This skid steer mounted snow blower offers features found
nowhere else; these blowers are built like a tank and made to
last a lifetime. The design of the SS-84 snow blowers utilizes a single
powerful USA White drive products hydraulic motor and a gearbox to transfer power to the in-feed auger and fan. This design allows for maximum power at the main discharge fan while maintaining the correct in-feed to discharge fan speed ration. The WoodMaxx exclusive hydraulic valve block provides constant flow and
pressure to the hydraulic drive motor by not diverting oil flow or pressure away from
the fan for other functions like rotating the chute or raising the chute
deflector. This is achieved by using "down flow" oil that has already passed through the motor for these functions. The exclusive WoodMaxx design prevents the momentary stop of the discharge fan encountered in
competing models. This momentary stop of the fan instantly plugs the chute
when blowing wet or heavy snow. A problem that you will not
encounter with the WoodMaxx SS-72 or SS-84.
STRENGTH IN DESIGN
WoodMaxx SS-series snow blowers are manufactured using heavy
formed Q-235 (American standard ASTM A-36) structural steel plate, the
strongest hot rolled plate steel available. Forming allows for additional
strength and rigidity. The pieces are CNC laser cut so that they fit together
perfectly, and are then precisely welded. This fact combined with the
structural design allows for one rugged snow removal machine.

HYDRAULIC CHUTE ROTATOR/DEFLECTOR
WoodMaxx™ SS-series snow blowers come standard with all wiring
harnesses and the hand held remote control. No need for any factory installed
wiring from your skid steer. The WoodMaxx SS-84 will work with any skid steer
provided that proper hydraulic flow is provided. Supported by 4 roller
bearings, the chute rotates easily without freezing up.
WoodMaxx™ SS-84 has an 83" cutting path.
When choosing a snow blower for your skid steer it is a general practice to
choose one that has a cutting width that is at least as wide as the distance
from outside to outside of the tires of your skid steer.
WoodMaxx™ SS-series snow blowers have a 27” high cutting capacity
to match the width, auger and fan dimensions for the machine.
BOLT ON HARDENED STEEL CUTTING EDGE
Offering a bolt on replaceable cutting edge as standard equipment
allows for the use of hardened steel and easy replacement when the time comes.
Simply unbolt the worn cutting edge and replace it easily. Some competing
blowers use soft common steel cutting edges that are welded in place. Also the
design of the cutting edge is such that the blade rides flat on the ground so
that it acts as a skid shoe. This design prolongs the life of the cutting edge
and the skid shoes. Additionally the cutting edge is capable of scraping snow
clean down to the pavement, but is also more forgiving on stone driveways than
angled cutting edge designs.
BOLT ON REPLACEABLE SKID SHOES
Standard equipment includes bolt on and replaceable skid shoes.
Because of the design of the cutting edge, these skid shoes take little wear,
but are easily replaced when the time comes.
The WoodMaxx™ SS series PTO snow blower offers a larger 17-1/2”
auger to aggressively pull snow into the fan.
The thickness of the auger blades is something to consider when
choosing a snow blower. That is why we use heavy gauge 5/16” (8mm) steel to
prevent damage to the auger blades when pushing into those frozen snow piles.
AUGER TUBE DIAMETER
The main auger is built around and supported by a tube; that is
why we use heavy wall 2-7/8” (70mm) tube as the base of our auger design. This
large diameter ensures that the auger continues to run true without deforming.
4 BLADE OPEN CENTER FAN
SS-series snow blowers utilize a 4 blade open center cupped fan
design. After countless hours of research and development in upstate NY the fan
design of the WoodMaxx™ SS series snow blowers are extremely productive at
scooping and discharging snow. The open center fan design allows snow to be
easily pushed into the fan by the auger where it is then thrown to the outside
of the housing by the 4 evenly spaced fan blades. These cup shaped blades
efficiently force the snow outward to evacuate the housing.
LARGE FAN DIAMETER
The diameter of the fan is directly related to the fan blade tip
speed and the distance at which the fan can throw snow. The fan diameter of the
WoodMaxx™ SS-series PTO snow blower is sized according to the width and
capability of the snow blower along with the compatible skid steers.
Accordingly the 24” diameter fan has a blade tip speed of 3,393 ft./min.
6.75” FAN DEPTH
Fan depth on all three size SS snow blowers is 6.75” deep to allow
for heavy snow removal without plugging.
5/16” (8MM) FAN STEEL THICKNESS
Because inevitably chunks of ice may pass through the fan, it is
important to use heavy steel in the construction to prevent damage. Therefore
the steel used for the production of the fan is 5/16”(8mm) Q235 structural
plate steel. These fans are heavy duty and act as a flywheel to keep moving
through heavy snow. The weight of the fan alone is 74 lbs. All WoodMaxx™
SS-series fan are dynamically balanced to ensure smooth running without
vibration while prolonging bearing life.
CAST IRON GEAR BOX
WoodMaxx™ SS-series snow blowers use an oil bath gear box to
transfer power from the main hydraulic motor to the in-feed auger. This ensures
that maximum oil flow and pressure is used for the fan to expel snow from the
discharge chute. Built for heavy use, the sealed cast iron gear box houses
precisely machined gears that are bathed in oil during use for long life.
#60 ROLLER CHAIN TRANSMISSION
Power is transmitted from the gear box to the auger through a
shaft and heavy #60 chain and sprocket design, which incorporates an easy to
adjust chain tensioning mechanism. This solid state design ensures proper auger
to fan speed ratio, increases torque and is easy to maintain. This is the same
design as on our SB PTO series snow blowers, and proven reliable for years.
SS-series snow blowers will mount to any skid steer that has a
universal skid steer attachment mount. If you have any questions about compatibility,
just give us a call.
HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE DISCHARGE
WoodMaxx™ SS-series snow blowers utilize a high-density
polyethylene chute liner to keep the snow moving and prevent snow from freezing
on and plugging the discharge chute. This liner also provides a very slick
surface for the snow to deflect off of, ultimately increasing the speed and
distance at which snow is thrown out of the chute.
9” CHUTE OUTLET DIAMETER
9” of clear opening allows the snow to clearly and freely exit the
fan housing. This keeps the snow moving to prevent freeze up and plugging.
1/8” (3MM) DISCHARGE CHUTE THICKNESS
Like every aspect of the WoodMaxx™ SB-series the discharge chute
is no exception. The steel is heavy gauge 1/8” (3mm) thick steel and formed to
an arch that was specifically designed to throw snow as far as possible.
